Why Stargazing at Lake Minnewanka is one of the most beautiful things

by Jyo

Few things make you feel as light, insignificant & larger than life, than staring at a canopy of a million stars.

Not to wax poetic, people, but truly, stargazing is one of most humbling, incredible things to do. All your worries, the world… all melt into the dark sky, while you’re being lulled into a mesmerizing display of shooting stars, and twinkling lights that only seem to grow brighter.

Who would have thought being in the darkness is what you would need to see the light! That’s irony, right there. And it bodes true for life, as it does for night time photography.

Okay, I’ve gone all Maya Angelou here, but that’s what stargazing at Lake Minnewanka, Banff did to me. It was also my first-time ever doing astrophotography. (which 2 super helpful Canadians took me through… tip #1 — umm…remove lens cap.)

Just look at this majesty!

Milky Way, are you there??

Look at those clusters of stars!
